Bid 23-001 – STATION #2 SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District invites interested and qualified parties to bid on the installation of sanitary sewer and septic removal/abandonment at Fire Station #2 – 3710 N Johnsburg Rd, Johnsburg, IL 60051.

This bid process and award of the contract will be made in accordance with Section 11k of the Illinois Fire Protection District Act (70 ILCS 705/11k). The McHenry Township Fire Protection District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, or to accept any bid or any part thereof, or to waive technical or legal deficiencies, if deemed to be in the best interest of the District.

This contract calls for the construction of a “public work,” within the meaning of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/.01 et seq. (“the Act”). The Act requires contractors and subcontractors to pay laborers, workers and mechanics performing services on public works projects no less than the “prevailing rate of wages” (hourly cash wages plus fringe benefits) in the county where the work is performed.

Bid documents will be available on the district’s website beginning on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023.

Two (2) original bid proposals must be addressed to Deputy Chief Steven Spraker in a sealed envelope clearly labeled with the number and title of the bid.  The outside of the envelope must include the name, phone number, and email address of the designated contact person.  The envelope is to be delivered to the MTFPD 3610 W. Elm St. McHenry, IL 60050 by 9:00 AM (Local Time), on Friday, September 15th, 2023. 

Bids will not be accepted via email, fax, or after the deadline.   It is the responsibility of the Bidder to meet the specified deadline. Bids arriving after the specified deadline, whether sent by mail, courier, or in person will not be accepted.                          

These submittals will either be refused or returned unopened.  Mailed submittals which are delivered after the specified deadline will not be accepted regardless of postmark on the envelope. 

The bid opening will be held at 9:05 am on Friday, September 15th, 2023 at the District office located at 3610 W. Elm Street, McHenry, IL.

Questions received as of 9/11/22 at 1:00p.m.

 

Question:  I do not see a bid tab sheet / proposal form included – do we just send proposal on our own proposal forms?

Answer: You can use your own proposal form.

 

Question: Is all restoration work to be included in this also (asphalt paving and landscaping)?

Answer: Restoration is to be included (both landscaping & driveway) as indicated on the utility plan sheet 1.0.

 

Question: The proposed monitoring manhole does not show a proposed invert elevation for the new 6” sewer line – it only shows proposed rim elevation.

Answer: Since we don’t know the exact depth of the existing service I would recommend an invert of 743.5.  This will make the manhole depth sufficiently deep should the services be deeper than we expected.  Then if the services are shallower the contractor can slope the service to get to the needed depth.  The contractor should verify all depths before starting construction.

 

Question: Will the contractor be required to obtain all necessary permits for sewer installation and septic tank abandonments?

Answer: The district will be obtaining the necessary permits.

 

Question: What are the sizes of the existing septic tanks?

Answer:  1,250 gallon and 520 gallon.

 

Question: What is the % of the bid bond?
Answer: No bid bond is required.
