At approximately 10:30pm on February 13, 2022, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District
responded to the 6400 block of Aspen Lane in Wonder Lake for a reported house on fire. On
arrival, smoke was coming from a 1-story, single family dwelling. The building appeared to be an
unoccupied residence under construction, near completion. There was heavy damage noticed to
the front overhead garage door and other exteriors walls, including blown out glass from all side
and rear windows.

Crews began an offensive attack on the fire from the interior of the house including searching for
any occupants inside. No civilians were found. The crews then transitioned into a defensive attack
from the exterior until the integrity of the walls could be confirmed.

The fire was controlled within 20 minutes and crews returned from the scene in just over 60
minutes. The Wonder Lake Fire District and Richmond Fire District assisted on the scene. The
Cary, Spring Grove and Round Lake Fire Departments covered the fire district while crews were
operating.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the
McHenry Township Fire Protection District. An estimate of damage was unknown at the time of
this release.
