  McHenry Township Fire Protection District (“District”) will receive general sealed bids for the Station #2 Renovation until 2:00 P.M. local time, Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Fire Station No. 1 of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, 3610 W. Elm Street, McHenry, Illinois 60050.  Sealed envelopes or packages containing bids shall be addressed to Deputy Chief Steve Spraker and plainly marked “BID PROPOSAL FOR STATION #2 RENOVATION” on the outside of the envelope. 

       OPENING OF BIDS:   Bids will be opened and read publicly immediately following in the Board Room at the same location at 2:10 P.M. local time, Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Fire Station No. 1 of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, 3610 W. Elm Street, McHenry, Illinois 60050. 

       PROJECT:   The Station #2 Renovation shall consist of the phased, open-remodel of the existing Fire Station bunk area, new finishes throughout the 1st and 2nd Floor living and office areas, exterior window replacement, and new LED light fixtures throughout, all in accordance with the Bid Documents. The bunk area scope includes remodel of the current bunk rooms and bunk area toilet rooms. All emergency operations must remain operational during all phases of construction.

  PRE-BID MEETING: A Pre-Bid Meeting for contractors will be held at Fire Station No. 2 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 13, 2022.  Attendance at the Pre-Bid Meeting is recommended, but not mandatory.

  BID DOCUMENTS: Bid Documents are available electronically after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from BHFX, 4527 Prime Parkway, McHenry, Illinois 60050, Telephone: 815-344-0360, Email: mchenry@bhfx.net.  All costs of emailing or conventional mailing of Bid Documents will be nonrefundable to the Bidding contractor and shall be paid directly to BHFX.  No refund for returned Bidding Documents shall be made.  Architect is Studio 222 Architects LLC, 222 South Morgan Street, Suite 4B, Chicago, IL 60607, 312-850-4970, ext. 121.

  BID BOND: A Bid Bond in the amount of Ten Percent (10%) of the total bid must be presented with the formal bid.  Bid Bond shall be in the form of an approved insurance company Bid Bond or a Cashier’s Bank Check issued to McHenry Township Fire Protection District. 

  PAYMENT AND PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE: The successful bidder shall be required to provide a Performance Bond in the sum equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the amount of the bid, with sureties to be approved by the District.  Said bond shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of the Work specified in accordance with the plans and specifications and according to the time, terms, and conditions of the contract.

  WAGE RULES/PREVAILING WAGES: Work performed under this contract shall be in accordance with Illinois Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/1, et seq.), the Substance Abuse Prevention on Public Works Projects Act (820 ILCS 265/1, et seq.), Drug Free Workplace Act (30 ILCS 580/1, et seq.), and any applicable superseding ordinance or public law.

  TAXES: The McHenry Township Fire Protection District is exempt from the Illinois State, municipal, or county Retailers Occupational Tax, Service Occupation Tax, Use Tax, and Service Use Tax as described in the Illinois Compiled Statute Chapter 35.  Bid prices shall not include the cost of such taxes.

  GENERAL CONDITIONS: Each bid shall include all elements of construction to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, applicable taxes, and all other expense items to completely perform the work required.  Bids will be held good and may not be withdrawn for a period of ninety (90) calendar days form the date of opening.

  DISTRICT’S  RIGHTS: The District reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive any irregularities and/or reject any or all bids when, in the District’s opinion, such action will serve the best interest of the District.  The District also reserves the right to cancel the bidding process before bid envelopes are opened.
