Message from the Chief
Chief Tony Huemann
Welcome to the McHenry Township Fire Protection District’s website. I invite you to take a look around the site to learn about the activities of our department and the services provided to our residents and the communities we protect.
The MTFPD has a Board of Trustees consisting of five members appointed by the Law and Government Sub-Committee of the McHenry County Board. The MTFPD Board gives financial oversight to the District and meets the third Thursday of every month.
MTFPD is a 24/7 operation responding out of five stations, 365 days a year. We function with part-time personnel and every 24 hours there are 36 positions filled with the duration of each shift being 12 hours. Our department consists of 165 members which includes 5 captains, 28 lieutenants and 132 firefighters.
We have continued to set records each year for our increasing number of emergency responses including 5,722 calls in 2017. In addition to answering during an emergency, our firefighters, paramedics and EMTs also provide coverage for public education events including football games, station tours, block parties and CPR classes.
Our department also includes an active Fire Prevention Bureau that provides for inspections, plan reviews and fire safety information. Additionally, we have a full-time staff member providing public education services for the community. We are an active department pleased to serve the residents of our community.
I am honored to serve as Fire Chief for the residents of the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
